Florida State University is a large higher education institution in Tallahassee, Florida. The university comprises 16 colleges offering more than 275 undergraduate and graduate programs, including doctoral, professional, and specialist degrees. It maintains strengths across the arts and humanities and in the sciences, supported by faculty known for scholarly work, and it operates in the state capital with campus life and academic programs. It is the oldest continuously operating site of higher education in Florida and hosts significant research opportunities, including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the state's only national lab. In January 2026, the university launched Add to the Archive at Strozier, a program inviting students and campus community members to contribute to the university's permanent historical record.
