Food Bank of the Rockies is a Denver-based nonprofit founded in 1978 that coordinates the collection and distribution of food through a network of hunger-relief programs across Northern Colorado and Wyoming. It began in a 900-square-foot classroom in northwest Denver, where food gathered from Safeway stores was distributed to a single agency; today the organization serves more than 600 hunger-relief programs and distributed nearly 49 million meals in the most recent year, more than 134,000 meals per day.
