Franciscan Volunteer Ministry (FVM) runs a post-graduate year of service and faith formation for lay men and women who live in community and undertake ministry in collaboration with the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The program is anchored in a Gospel call to express love in action, prioritizing service to the marginalized, personal and relational development, spiritual growth, and an active prayer life. Volunteers commit to a simple, Franciscan-inspired lifestyle that promotes solidarity with the poor and builds a close Christian community among participants. Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, FVM describes itself as a small, mission-oriented organization focused on forming volunteers who grow in faith, become witnesses to their communities, and develop professional skills for the future. While not compensated with a traditional salary, the program provides room and board, a monthly budget for living expenses, a community car, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and student loan assistance.
