Franklin County LOSS, or Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors, is a small, volunteer-based organization operating in Columbus, Ohio, within the individual and family services sector. It provides grief resources, community referrals, biohazard cleanup referrals, and hotel discounts, with trained volunteers activated by the Coroner's office delivering practical and emotional support. Many volunteers have themselves experienced suicide loss, and their lived experience helps establish connection and hope for those newly bereaved. Beyond the initial visit, LOSS maintains ongoing engagement through a Companion Program, where volunteers with similar losses spend time with other survivors, and through activities such as a monthly scrapbooking group and Remembrance Events.
