The Free Russia Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that operates as a nonpartisan, nongovernmental entity led by Russians abroad. It seeks to be a voice for individuals in Russia who cannot speak freely under the current leadership, coordinating the Russia diaspora and focusing on people who have recently left the country amid political and economic deterioration. The foundation is dedicated to shaping a strategic vision for Russia after Putin and a concrete transition program to accompany that period.
It informs international policymakers, mass media, and opinion leaders about the real situation in Russia, drawing on firsthand experience and extensive networks across political, business, and civil society spheres. Based in Washington, D.C., the organization serves as a hub for transplanted Russians and experts on all aspects of Russian society, providing real-time access to developments.
