Free Spirit Publishing focuses on supporting young people’s social and emotional health by producing practical learning tools. Its catalog includes books and other materials that cover topics such as stress management, resilience, puberty, grief and loss, and school success, with content designed to help children and teens navigate everyday life. The company serves children and teens and the adults who support them—families, teachers, and caregivers—often in educational or home settings. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Free Spirit operates as an imprint of Teacher Created Materials, reflecting a small-to-midsize team. Over four decades, its work has aimed to help young people think for themselves, succeed in life, and make a positive difference. In 2021, Teacher Created Materials acquired Free Spirit Publishing, integrating it as an imprint within its broader catalog of learning resources.
