Founded in 1974 by a group of progressive Minneapolis cyclists who were looking to revolutionize bicycle retail in every way possible.  Through innovative ideas like offering a public repair shop, providing educational courses, and maintaining an enormous parts department, Freewheel Bike soon earned the reputation as the top shop for the serious cyclist. 

More than 35 years later those original services are still available and that creative spirit is still the driving force behind Freewheel Bike's continued success.  By offering recent innovations in bicycle services like the Midtown Bike Center, the Gear Box vending machines, and the Mobile Repair Squad, Freewheel Bike has proven its commitment to expanding the boundaries of the bicycle retail landscape.
