Under this plan, which was completed on October 15, 2004 with the Holding Company’s sale of approximately 862,000 the Insurance Company converted from a mutual to a Michigan stock insurance company. The Insurance Company changed its name from Fremont Mutual Insurance Company to Fremont Insurance Company. On August 1, 2011 the Auto Club Insurance Association, a Dearborn, Michigan-based insurer (ACIA), announced it has acquired Fremont Insurance Company through a merger transaction with its parent company, Fremont Michigan InsuraCorp, Inc. Fremont is a strong advocate of your local independent agents and feels they provide an invaluable tool in educating the consumer about insurance products and the ability to service their local communities better than direct insurance writers. Fremont is very selective on appointing its independent agencies. We are represented by less than 15% of the agencies in Michigan.
