Friends Association for Care & Protection of Children is a long-standing nonprofit in the field of child welfare, rooted in Quaker tradition and based in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Since 2010, it has oriented its work toward ending family homelessness in Chester County, offering services that prevent homelessness and promote family independence. The organization serves a diverse range of family configurations—single parents, two-parent households, multigenerational families, grandparents, and LGBTQ+-identified families—and emphasizes keeping families intact during crises while connecting them with community resources. Operating within the Individual and Family Services sector, Friends Association positions housing as a basic human right and pursues a goal of making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring through four pillars: preventing homelessness, providing emergency housing, partnering with families to support stability, and promoting systemic change. In 2024, Joyce Chester was appointed Chief Executive Officer, signaling a leadership transition for the organization.
