Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area is a nonprofit chapter of a national organization focused on breaking the cycle of generational poverty through salaried, professional mentoring. The program designates trained, full-time mentors who establish a stable, sustained relationship with each child for 12 years or more, regardless of circumstances. The Bay Area chapter began serving local children in 2017. Based in San Francisco, California, the organization serves children and families in the Bayview Hunters Point area, providing long-term mentoring through trained professional mentors. As a chapter of a national nonprofit founded in 1993, it extended its operations to the Bay Area in 2017. In late 2025, the organization established its permanent home in Bayview Hunters Point to support its programs.
