The Future Citizens Foundation is a small philanthropic organization based in Salinas, California, serving Monterey County. It supports youth development by offering life-skills education through its campus, in classrooms, and through service and mentorship within the community. The organization runs three programs in Monterey County that help people from diverse backgrounds develop as future community members. The First Tee of Monterey County at the Twin Creeks golf course serves more than 6,000 participants with golf-based life skills and character education. The Pay It Forward Scholarship and Mentoring Program, funded by private sources, provides a four-year, $20,000 scholarship at California State University, Monterey Bay to local first-generation college students. The Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach brings together junior players, Champions Tour pros, and select amateurs on a well-known golf venue, an event hosted by the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which has supported charity through golf events since 1937.
