Future Earth is a global non-profit organization that mobilizes researchers and innovators to advance sustainability through collaborative research and turning knowledge into action. It builds on 27 Global Research Networks that have shaped Earth system science and helped define the Anthropocene, illustrating a long-standing role in sustainability science. As an international convenor, it promotes co-design and co-production of knowledge and tools, and works to inject the latest research into decisions made by governments, businesses, and communities, including efforts to reduce carbon emissions in collaboration with technology partners and to foster networks of early-career researchers and other innovators.

Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Future Earth operates as a mid-sized nonprofit with a global reach, connecting science and policy across governments, industry, and civil society. A notable recent development is the 2024 launch of the Earth Commission's second assessment, bringing in a new cohort of experts to update its guidance.
