Galveston County Food Bank is a nonprofit organization focused on alleviating hunger in Galveston County by distributing fresh produce, meat, and non-perishable foods from its warehouse in Texas City. It serves as the county's hub for integrated food assistance, coordinating with partner agencies and major supporters such as Feeding Texas, Houston Food Bank, United Way, and HEB. It also rescues food from area grocers through its Retail Pickup program and operates a network with more than 55 nonprofit partners, health and nutrition programs, and schools, while offering direct-to-client programs that combine nutrition education with food distributions. Founded in 2004, the Food Bank operates from a warehouse at 624 4th Avenue North in Texas City and serves Galveston County. In 2017, its programs provided more than six million meals to residents county-wide, and in January 2024 it began a veteran-focused monthly food distribution in partnership with Combined Arms.
