GameCity is an entertainment provider focused on videogame culture, organizing a program of regular events that culminates in an annual festival held in Nottingham's venues and public spaces. Based in Zoetermeer, South Holland, the organization creates diverse, participatory experiences—from art exhibitions and tea parties to arcade trails and big-screen outdoor gaming—that encourage playful engagement. Since its inception in 2006, the program has included world premieres, public debates, and large-scale installations, including more than 3,000 zombies and four tons of Lego. GameCity operates as a project of Nottingham Trent University with support from private and public sector partners. In 2008, NTU collaborated with the National Media Museum to launch the National Videogame Archive, which now holds over 3,000 objects. The initiative centers on presenting emerging work in videogames and facilitating public involvement alongside creators.
