The Garces Foundation is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that immigrant workers and families have access to the resources they need to thrive — healthcare, language support, and education. Founded in 2012 by chef and restaurateur Jose Garces and dentist Beatriz Garces, the Foundation grew out of a firsthand understanding of the barriers facing immigrant communities. Philadelphia's immigrant residents are a vital part of the city's workforce and economy — particularly in the restaurant, hospitality, and service industries — yet they often face significant gaps in access to basic services. Our programs are designed to meet people where they are and evolve as community needs change. Core areas of focus include: • Health access: Free and low-cost dental and medical care for uninsured and underinsured individuals • Language instruction and workforce development: English-language instruction to support adults in achieving their personal and professional goals • Community support: Connecting workers and families with vital resources, referrals, and education through case management services As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are powered by the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and the Philadelphia restaurant community. Every year, our Garces Foundation Benefit brings together the city's top chefs, businesses, and civic leaders in celebration of the people who make Philadelphia great.
