Michael Garozzo is the owner and operator of Garozzo’s Ristorante, which celebrated its 25th anniversary of being in business in April 2014. Michael was born and raised in “The Hill” in St. Louis. He began his restaurant career as a busboy, with a dream of one day owning his own restaurant. His father, Salvatore, and his uncle, Alfio, both waiters in fine restaurants all their lives, encouraged Michael to follow his dream. He opened the first Garozzo’s in 1989 in the historic Columbus Park neighborhood in Kansas City. Today there are three locations in the Kansas City Metro area. Garozzo’s prides itself on its signature dish, Chicken Spiedini, which Michael created and has now become a Kansas City staple. Garozzo’s has received numerous awards throughout the years including Best Catering, Best Pasta by Kansas City Magazine, and Best Italian Restaurant by Kansas City Magazine, College Boulevard News, The Pitch, and The Squire South Express. For the last 13 years, the restaurant has been named Best Ethnic restaurant by Ingram’s Magazine. In 2001, Michael was awarded Restaurateur of the Year by the Missouri Restaurant Association. Customer satisfaction is our number one goal. It is the result of giving each customer a quality dining experience with good food, courteous & efficient service, and high standards of cleanliness that please the customer enough to make them excited about a return engagement. The regular, or repeat, customer is the most valuable asset a restaurant can have. Each employee must treat every guest that comes into the restaurant as if they were coming to Michael Garozzo’s home for Sunday dinner. Michael, his wife Marguerite (Maggie), his four daughters, and the entire Garozzo’s staff invites all guests to a true Italian dining experience, “Because you’re family at Garozzo’s.”
