On October 28, 2002, the dream of a few local business people to establish a local community bank in Roscoe, Illinois, became a reality when Gateway Community Bank was chartered and opened to serve the community. Opened in a temporary office location in the Main Street Square (MSS), the bank grew quickly and moved to its permanent location in the MSS on March 3, 2003.

Gateway Community Bank expanded its reach across the market in the coming years and grew to serve the residents and businesses in Rockton, South Beloit, Loves Park, and Machesney Park, Illinois, and Beloit, Janesville and Clinton, Wisconsin. In March of 2009, the Bank opened its second office location in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Known for its excellent customer service and ability to move quickly to assist customers when larger corporate banks were unable to, Gateway Community Bank is now celebrating its 10th Year of serving the Greater Stateline Area and as of December 31, 2012 has grown to manage $87,500,000 million in total assets, $58,619,000 in total loans and $78,198,000 in total deposits.
