Gateway to College National Network builds the capacity of states, colleges, and school districts to expand educational opportunities for high school dropouts and underprepared college students, helping them attain academic credentials. Its approach connects K-12 and higher education institutions and communities to transform instructional and student-support practices from within. The organization also conducts research to share what works and advocates for policy and regulatory changes to broaden access to alternative education models.

Based in Portland, Oregon, the organization operates within the education administration programs field and serves a range of educational partners and communities. In 2017, it announced a partnership with Roger Williams University to offer a pathway that allows former dropouts to earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree.
