Geeking Out Kids of Color (GOKiC) is a small nonprofit based in Seattle, Washington that provides technology education with a focus on the lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, and people of color. It designs programming, robotics, and computer science experiences in culturally relevant ways and emphasizes a safe, inclusive space that fosters creativity and critical thinking. The organization aims to make technology learning accessible and meaningful by centering students' social-emotional needs alongside technical skills. GOKiC serves students in Seattle and South King County through partnerships with schools and other nonprofits, while engaging families to ensure access to technology and learning resources. In the past year, it launched Collective Youth to help BIPOC youth pursue internships and tech careers through a social justice lens and expanded its virtual learning environments to support healing and connection. It has also developed curricula that connect real-world issues to learning, including projects that apply technical skills to community-centered civic engagement.
