Gemeente Ommen is a local government administration based in Ommen, in the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands. The municipality lies along the Overijsselse Vecht in the Salland region and covers about 18,192 hectares, of which roughly 6,000 hectares are protected nature. It has a long historical record, being mentioned as early as around 1100 as a crossing place on the Vecht and receiving city rights in 1248. Since 2012, it collaborates with Hardenberg to form the Bestuursdienst Ommen-Hardenberg (BOH), a shared civil service that supports both municipal administrations in carrying out all municipal tasks for more than 75,000 residents, businesses and civil society partners. The BOH is a relatively young organization that continues to develop. It emphasizes core values including involvement, ownership, collaboration and pride, with a focus on trust, accountability and cooperative problem solving.
