In 1981 Genics was founded as a company providing services to utilities by testing the structural integrity of their wooden poles, and treating these poles with chemicals to prevent degradation caused by decay and insects. Since then the company as grown into an industry leading manufacturer of wood preservatives and fire retardants. Still maintaining a primary focus on protecting wooden poles, Genics has expanded its scope to provide treatment products for railways, log homes, wooden residential and commercial construction as well a variety of other wooden applications. This coined the trademarked phrase “Wherever wood is used.” Today Genics prides itself as a pioneer in the wood preservation world, offering the most environmentally and user friendly product suite available on the market. Genics has managed to spread its reach across North America, providing wood preservatives and fire retardants to the majority of all the major utilities and railways across the continent. Today the company is comprised of a three main operating divisions: Genics Manufacturing - the production and sales of Genics Wood Preservatives and Fire Retardants Genics Field Services - crews travelling throughout Canada installing these products, primarily in Utility Poles Genics Research and Development - the continual refining of the current product suite, as well as the development and patenting of new products
