The Geological Society of Denmark was founded in 1893 to promote interest in geology and to establish a forum for geologists and others with interest for geology. The Society arranges meetings with lectures and discussions, arranges excursions, and publishes two publication series. The Bulletin of the Geological Society of Denmark has been published since 1893 and all issues are available as Open Access publications that can be downloaded for free. Furthermore, the Society awards the Steno Medal and administers the Danish Geology Prize and other funds. The Society has approximately 600 members.
