Georgia Crown Distributing Co is a family-owned beverage distributor operating in the beverage manufacturing sector, with wholesale operations in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, selling imported and domestic spirits, wines, beers, and specialty products. The company was founded in August 1938 by Fate D. Leebern as Columbus Wine Company Distributors, and it unloaded the first carload of legal liquor in Columbus after Prohibition. Four generations of the Leebern family have led the business, with Don Leebern III serving as president and Don Leebern, Jr. as chief executive officer. Its corporate office is located in McDonough, Georgia, coordinating sales, administration, information systems and accounting, while the Albany address at 100 Georgia Crown Drive is listed among its locations. In 1990, Georgia Crown entered the home and office bottled water market as Poland Spring Water Distributing Company, and a bottling plant was opened a year later to produce bottled water from a Dahlonega spring. The water division is now branded Melwood Springs, with the bottling facility located in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
