Georgian Court University is a private higher education institution located in Lakewood, New Jersey. It was founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and sits on a 114-acre estate formerly belonging to George Jay Gould. The university has been fully coeducational since 2013 and offers day and evening programs accessible to both women and men, within a Roman Catholic liberal arts tradition that emphasizes service and respect. The university comprises three schools offering more than 30 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate programs, alongside various certificates. It emphasizes small class sizes and personalized education, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 13:1 and classes taught by faculty rather than teaching assistants. In 2026, Georgian Court University announced the appointment of Dr. Jennifer Edmonds as dean of the newly formed School of Business, Education, Liberal Arts, and Sciences, effective July 1, 2026.
