Gerbel & Company was founded in 1968 by Robert L. Gerbel. The firm, located in St. Joseph, MI, prides itself on core values like accuracy, timeliness and problem solving, and possesses an excellent reputation in Southwest Michigan and beyond. Robert Gerbel graduated from Michigan State University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and immediately began his career at the accounting firm that would one day become Plante Moran. At the encouragement of his wife Carol, he founded Gerbel & Company in 1968 on the premise of providing accurate and reliable accounting services. Robert attributes Gerbel & Company’s success to an excellent crew of very outgoing, hardworking and diligent associates, including 4 CPAs, 2 accountants and 4 support staff who only provide the best for their clients. 

With more than 50 years of experience in the accounting industry, Robert Gerbel is dedicated to integrity and professionalism in all that he does. Robert specializes in auditing and individual finances, as well as corporate, estate, trust and gift taxes. Robert also supports and volunteers time to many community events and charities, especially the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation, where he and his wife fund the Believe in Yourself Scholarship.
