Glencairn Museum sits in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, in a Romanesque-style building that was erected from 1928 to 1939 as the home of Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn. The site was conceived as a castle-like residence for an extensive medieval art collection and included on-site workshops that produced handcrafted works for both the Cathedral and the house, using stone, wood, stained glass, and mosaic.

Today it operates as a museum of religious art and history, with collections that encompass ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman, medieval Christian, Islamic, Asian, and American Indian material. Pitcairn’s medieval stained glass and sculpture holdings are regarded as among the finest in the country. Glencairn is a featured part of the Bryn Athyn Historic District.
