Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is a regional nonprofit organization in the Individual and Family Services sector that aims to expand opportunities for people facing barriers to employment and everyday life. It supports job training, employment placement, and other community programs through the sale of donated clothing and household items in its network of stores across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. This model ties social services to its retail operations, enabling the organization to sustain its community programs. Based in Rockford, Illinois, the organization serves communities within its regional footprint. Historically, the group has reached thousands of people through its programs, including more than 24,000 individuals served in 2018. It operates across multiple locales in its region and pursues partnerships and community initiatives, such as a 2024 summer job and resource fair organized with The Workforce Connection in Rockford and a 2024 collaboration with Winnebago County CASA to address domestic violence and trauma.
