Grassroots International is a Boston-based nonprofit that supports community-led development by providing grants and partnering with movements in the Global South to advocate for social change. It concentrates on land, water, and food as human rights, working with partners to advance these rights and strengthen political organizing around them. Since its founding in 1983, the organization has operated in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, focusing on places where U.S. foreign policy has hindered progress and where grassroots movements develop local solutions to global problems.

Within the non-profit and international development sector, Grassroots International emphasizes alliance-building with progressive movements and community-led projects. A recent development is the May 2023 launch of its Solidarity Encounter series, virtual gatherings that bring together donors and allies for learning and community-building.
