Greater NY carefully pairs leaders from the nonprofit sector with leaders from the private sector to work with each other, one-on-one, an hour a month for two years, to solve the nonprofit’s most stubborn issue. Launched by the New York City Mayor’s Office during the financial crisis of 2008, Greater NY has grown from an emergency response to a powerful network that is leveraging cross-sector dialogue to address New York City’s most pressing social challenges. Greater NY partnerships meet one hour a month and work towards identified goals where cross-sector dialogue can lead to innovative solutions. Greater NY partnerships have supported diverse outcomes, including restructuring, rebranding, change management, merger and development of new business lines — while enabling private sector leaders to leverage their skills and experience.
