Greater Than Games was founded in 2011 by Christopher Badell, Adam Rebottaro, and Paul Bender with their flagship game, Sentinels of the Multiverse. In a decade of business, they brought over 50 immersive and dynamic titles to the tables of fans and board game enthusiasts.


In 2021, Flat River Group, an e-commerce distributor, acquired Greater Than Games with plans to grow further in the tabletop gaming industry. In April 2025, FRG announced that they were reducing the GTG team and halting all new projects in response to ongoing economic pressures.


In April of 2026, Handelabra Games, the video game developer behind the digital version of Sentinels of the Multiverse, purchased the rights to the Greater Than Games brand and its flagship IP, Sentinel Comics.

In May of 2026,  Handelabra Games entered into an agreement with Christopher Badell and Paul Bender to relaunch Greater Than Games, with the goal of building upon the successes of the past while continuing to deliver novel and engaging game experiences in the future.
