Greensgrow is a farming organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, focused on urban agriculture, social entrepreneurship, and community greening. The group operates public-facing urban farms in Kensington and West Philadelphia from March through December, offering vegetables, flowers, and plant starts to neighbors through a farmstand, a city-supported agriculture model, and a nursery, while also maintaining animals such as a pig, chickens, and beehives. Its programs include food access initiatives like SNAP Box and Mobile Markets, which collaborate with community partners to provide affordable fresh produce and address food insecurity in the region; the organization has also engaged in partnerships with institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania to develop communication strategies for underserved communities. Greensgrow positions itself within the urban farming sector as a national-level leader, aiming to reconnect city dwellers with rural food producers and to promote green spaces in homes and neighborhoods, with a mission to foster sustainable practices in Philadelphia. The organization describes itself as a small but dedicated team that demonstrates how previously abandoned land can be repurposed for productive use, emphasizing hands-on cultivation, education, and community involvement.
