Greenwich Village Youth Council has been serving young people in New York City since 1969. Founded by Executive Director John Pettinato, G.V.Y.C. delivers streetwise and compassionate services to at-risk youth including court intervention, homelessness prevention, job placement, academic assistance, crisis intervention, drug prevention, recreational activities, and other community-based and service programs. G.V.Y.C. has run the West 4th Street Basketball Tournament since 1977 and now runs the Spring Basketball League with the New York Junior Knicks. Greenwich Village Youth Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and relies on the support of friends and partners.
