GS1 is a global not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the design and implementation of standards and solutions to improve the efficiency, visibility and transparency of supply and demand chains.

The GS1 system of standards is the most widely used supply chain standards system in the world. The GS1 System includes unique and interoperable Identifiers, Data Carriers (bar codes and RFID tags), standards for electronic business documents and data exchange (incl. EDI), Data Synchronisation and standards for traceability and sustainability data exchange.
