GS1 Italy is the non-profit association that brings together 35 thousand Italian consumer goods companies. It aims to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between companies, associations and institutions to create value, efficiency, innovation, in order to give more thrust to businesses and more benefits to consumers.

GS1 Italy develops and maintains the most widely used global standards for efficient business communication. We are best known for the barcode, named by the BBC as one of “the 50 things that made the world economy”. 
GS1 standards improve the efficiency, safety and visibility of supply chains across physical and digital channels in 25 sectors.

Our scale and reach – local Member Organisations in 112 countries, 1.5 million user companies and 6 billion transactions every day – help ensure that GS1 standards create a common language that supports systems and processes across the globe.
Furthermore, GS1 Italy offers shared ECR processes, aiming at efficiency and innovation in the supply chain and arising from dialogue and comparison between Industry and Distribution. The purpose of ECR is fulfill consumer wishes better, faster and at less cost. 
GS1 Italy also coordinates the following services: Immagino, that simplifies the exchange between manufacturers and retailers to manage, update and validate images and product information for omnichannel use; Allineo, to synchronise product master data among the various commercial partners; Procedo, a web platform for the electronic exchange of documents; Academy, i.e. training courses to improve business performance and skills; finally, in the GS1 Italy Lab it is possible to test the implementation of GS1 standards and their application in the various stages of the supply chain.

GS1 Italy has also implemented projects in the healthcare and banking sectors, for logistics and rail transport. It also conducts a number of studies, such as the Non Food Monitoring and the Immagino Monitoring.
