Gwilliam Ivary Chiosso Cavalli & Brewer is a Bay Area law firm dedicated exclusively to representing people with serious and complex personal injury, wrongful death, employment and consumer law cases. For over 45 years, our mission has been clear: obtain the best possible result for each of our clients and, in so doing, help to create a safer and more just community. The firm was founded by Gary Gwilliam on September 1, 1978 after practicing personal Injury law in Oakland  since 1966. 

We take only those cases we truly believe in. We have demonstrated time and again, our willingness to take a case all the way to trial if that is what it takes to obtain the best possible result for our client. We have obtained outstanding results for clients who had been turned away by other firms — for some of whom we were able to obtain multi-million dollar verdicts or settlements.

The courage of the people we represent is our inspiration and we respect that courage by striving to be equally courageous in our approach to the practice of law. In that spirit, our approach is much more than just getting clients the "most money". We view our clients as individuals and fellow human beings. We endeavor to empathize with our clients and understand the effects that an injury or death has on the client and their families. We try to help our clients in ways that sometimes have little or nothing to do with their immediate legal needs, such as referring them to medical professionals or grief counselors. Ultimately, we seek justice for our clients so that we can improve the quality of their lives.

In medicine, this is known as the “holistic” approach. In the practice of law, it has just as much value. Our results and the fact that the majority of our cases are referred to us by other attorneys in California and throughout the U.S. indicate that this holistic approach works.
