Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is a nonprofit organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina, operating within the Habitat for Humanity network to address local housing needs. Since its founding in 1983 by seven local churches, the affiliate has helped more than 4,000 families through new-home construction, critical home repair, and financial literacy programs, supporting the development of affordable housing across the region. The organization facilitates homeownership by offering low-interest mortgages and requiring participation in financial literacy classes and volunteer construction of homes. Its work is supported in part by six ReStores across the Charlotte region, which resell donated furniture, building materials, and other items to fund its mission. Its history includes pioneering the Women Build movement with the first all-female crew in 1991. In 2024, Habitat Charlotte Region merged with Habitat Gaston County to coordinate a broader, regional response to housing challenges.
