The Hawaii State Bar Association is a nonprofit organization that serves Hawaii's legal community by registering all attorneys licensed to practice in the state. Every licensed attorney is a member of the HSBA, making membership universal for practitioners. Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, the association aims to unite and inspire Hawaii's lawyers to promote justice, serve the public, and advance the profession. In 2023, HSBA partnered with the Judiciary and the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii to maintain self-help centers in courthouses, providing information to self-represented civil litigants, with a focus on low- and moderate-income residents. That year it also supported a free Disaster Legal Hotline in collaboration with the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii and the Young Lawyers Division to offer legal guidance during disasters. The organization operates within the nonprofit sector to bolster the legal profession and public access to justice in Hawaii.
