HWMO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing the Hawaiian Islands with nationally recognized wildfire protection services since 2000. We serve as the hub of the collaborative wildfire efforts of government agencies, nongovernment organizations, and communities across Hawaii. HWMO's work includes: 1) Community-based wildfire preparedness outreach and education. 2) Vegetative fuels management projects to protect residential, commercial, and natural areas. 3) Improving firefighting capacity through training, equipment, planning, and mapping. 4) Serving as a nonprofit arm of local firefighting agencies to implement collaborative projects such as the Wildfire and Drought Lookout! campaign and fire planning.
