Hawken School is an independent, college preparatory day school serving Preschool through Grade 12. Based in Gates Mills, Ohio, it educates more than 1,200 students in a coeducational, pluralistic, nonsectarian environment and aims to prepare students for life beyond school. Founded in 1915, Hawken operates within the primary and secondary education sector and has pursued strategic growth beyond its main campus. Its expansion history includes the 2016 acquisition of Birchwood School, the 2020 establishment of the Mastery School of Hawken on Magnolia Drive, and a corresponding expansion of its office footprint to Cleveland. In early 2021 Hawken launched Project Regeneration, a climate-action initiative intended to engage individuals and organizations in sustainability efforts.
