The Health Education Council (HEC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing access, education, advocacy, and training to empower individuals towards a healthy life.  Since 1991, HEC has focused primarily on eliminating preventable causes of death resulting from the use of tobacco, poor nutrition, and lack of physical activity. 

The Health Education Council has long understood that the majority of health happens outside of the doctor’s office and that health is driven by where people live, work, play, shop, learn, pray and grow old. Through these channels, HEC works to infuse health into the communities it serves through dozens of public health programs which address: healthy eating and active living, diabetes prevention, tobacco control and safe neighborhoods.
