The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney, Texas, operates a 289-acre wildlife sanctuary alongside a natural science museum with the aim of educating children about nature. Established in 1967, the organization centers its work on education, conservation, and preservation, seeking to connect people with the natural environment and foster appreciation for conservation. Its offerings are targeted toward visitors and the broader community interested in nature education, providing experiences that promote learning, discovery, and engagement with the region’s natural resources. In addition to its educational mission, the Heard also participates in collaborative efforts, as evidenced by a recent partnership to present Indigenous Canadian art, illustrating a broader cultural outreach beyond its core conservation and science focus.
