High School Democrats of America is a national political organization that serves as an entry point to Democratic politics for youth activists from across the United States. Its members work at the state and local level to advance Democratic ideals, engage fellow students in the political process, and support electing Democratic candidates to public office. In election years, HSDA has supported campaigns for candidates such as Joseph Donnelly and Elizabeth Warren, with members conducting substantial outreach including calls, canvassing, and voter registration efforts; for example, the New York High School Democrats logged over 28,000 swing-state calls in 2012, and in 2016 members reported tens of thousands of doors knocked, roughly 103,000 calls, and around 6,000 voter registrations. Based in the United States, HSDA operates as a nationwide network with state chapters that mobilize youth around Democratic campaigns and civic participation. Several HSDA state chairs have been elected as delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in recent years, reflecting involvement in party-level activities.
