Our Mission is to revitalize our community by preserving architecture and sharing history.

Historic Macon Foundation has served as Middle Georgia's historical society of note since its founding in 1964. Historic Macon Foundation's vision is to lead Middle Georgia as the premier preservation organization. HMF is a nationally-recognized and award-winning leader in revitalizing historic neighborhoods, having completed rehabilitation of over 150 individual historic buildings. Historic Macon provides education about Macon's 6,000 National Register-listed historic buildings in 12 historic districts and owns and operates the Sidney Lanier Cottage historic house museum, which also serves as the organization's headquarters.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and the majority of our support comes from nearly 600 member households who make yearly donations.
