The Home Builders Association of Tennessee (HBAT) operates as a not-for-profit trade association headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. It serves a network of about 3,000 members that include professional builders, developers, and related firms involved in homebuilding, remodeling, and light commercial construction. Established in 1960, HBAT coordinates activities through 13 local homebuilder associations across the state. HBAT and its local affiliates participate in the National Association of Home Builders, linking state groups with the national industry network. The organization is not a regulatory body; its mandate is to support local and state associations, advocate for the housing industry at the state level, and act as a bridge between local groups and the national organization. In 2021-22, HBAT collaborated with Strategic Value Media to produce the HBAT Buyers' Guide, a reference resource for products and services used by construction professionals.
