HEP is a Clearwater-based nonprofit founded in 1986 to address homelessness in Pinellas County. It pursues a holistic service model that links housing with a broad set of supportive programs designed to address physical, mental, and social needs over an extended period. Target clients are homeless and very low-income individuals and families, including veterans. Beyond housing, services include one-on-one case management, health and dental care, mental health and substance abuse treatment, education, transportation, meals, job skills training, access to public benefits, legal aid, veterans assistance, and help finding employment. HEP also runs the Learning Center, a licensed child care facility offering after-school and summer enrichment to help break cycles of poverty and illiteracy.
