Homeownership Council of America is the only national nonprofit dedicated to developing and expanding homeownership through lending products, programs, and partnerships. We are staffed by a group of experienced mortgage and nonprofit lending professionals. We are guided by our passionate and knowledgeable Board of Directors and a National Advisory Council of industry from regulators, third party providers, major banks, independent mortgage lenders, and nonprofits. Together, we take a leadership role in building partnerships between investors and nonprofit lenders to provide homeownership access. HCA is focused on underserved communities where people of color, low income, and rural populations continually lag in homeownership and recently built an award winning National DPA Solutions platform with a emerging CDFI Loan Pool available to CRA and Impact investors.

HCA bridges lending gaps through our CLIMB program and CDFI lender services. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to solve the broken links between mortgage lending and underserved communities. CLIMB creates reliable delivery systems through nonprofit lenders using investor capital. This bridges the gaps to homeownership. Together we are untapping the full potential of America’s underserved communities.

Our new Equity DPA is the first national SPCP program offering, designed as a game-changing down payment and closing cost assistance program involving HUD certified organizations and lender partners, in an efficient and scalable model. Equity DPA serves qualifying low income and minority first time homebuyers with a community soft second that is fully forgivable after 5 years of successful homeownership. Equity DPA will be available through any lender who wishes to participate and requires HUD approved homebuyer education.
