Hopalong Animal Rescue, based in Oakland, California, operates in the animal welfare space with a focus on rescue and rehoming of companion animals. In partnership with Second Chance Animal Rescue, it has since 1993 carried out rescuing, fostering, and spay/neuter efforts and has placed thousands of animals into caring homes. The work addresses the challenge of widespread abandonment and limited shelter capacity that can lead to euthanasia when overpopulation strains resources.

Over the past 18 years, the organization has placed more than 18,000 homeless or ill animals into permanent homes. The operation is supported by a small team that coordinates rescue, care, and placement across Northern California.
