Hope of Life International is a nonprofit international humanitarian organization focused on improving the lives of children, families, and communities in rural Guatemala by addressing underlying causes of poverty and malnutrition. The group works through village programming that provides clean water, better housing, income-generating activities, community education, and medical interventions, aiming to reach more than 100,000 marginalized families each year across hundreds of villages. Based in Cranston, Rhode Island, the organization collaborates with corporate partners and international volunteers to implement its programs and support long-term community development. The organization was founded in 1984 by Carlos Vargas and operates alongside its Guatemalan counterpart, Esperanza de Vida, with a history of longstanding efforts to save lives and improve living conditions in the region. A recent development notes a continued partnership with Inspire Investing, reflecting ongoing collaboration in regional projects.
