The Horseheads Central School District is a public education system serving primary and secondary students in Chemung County, located in Upstate New York's Southern Tier. It covers about 143 square miles and serves roughly 25,000 residents, educating about 4,000 students with more than 600 staff members. The district operates four elementary schools serving PreK through fourth grade, an intermediate school for grades five and six, a middle school for grades seven and eight, and a high school for grades nine through twelve. It is one of three districts in the county and articulates a mission to Explore, Empower, and Excel, with a vision that emphasizes educational excellence, curiosity, innovative thinking, and a student-centered, nurturing environment in collaboration with local and global communities.

In November 2024, the district announced a partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine to offer an Early Acceptance Program for high school students, creating pathways related to health care education. This development reflects the district's ongoing focus on expanding opportunities for students through collaborations with higher education institutions and the broader community.
