The Housing Partnership Equity Trust is a real estate investment trust with a social purpose, focused on affordable rental housing. It partners with nonprofit organizations to acquire and manage apartment buildings that provide quality homes for families, seniors, and others with modest incomes, while seeking to preserve affordable and sustainable housing in the communities where they operate. 

It was founded in 2012 by the Housing Partnership Network and a coalition of nonprofit housing providers across the country. As of May 2018, HPET owned almost 3,000 rental units across 15 apartment communities nationwide, serving renters at approximately 57% of area median income. The organization is headquartered in Northeast Washington, D.C.
